In its first round of grants in September 2008, COINS Foundation supported projects to build decent homes for nearly 500 orphans across Zambia, Uganda and Mozambique; we provided funds to build a secondary school in Uganda and a new Orthopaedic Surgical centre in Lusaka. The Foundation also made a number of smaller grants to match funds raised by COINS' employees. COINS’ Paul Thompson raised £6,000 to support the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Foundation was pleased to match this sum. The Foundation also granted £11,000 to pay the tuition fees for Sarah Mukasa, who is studying for a degree in Physiotherapy. She plans to return to Kampala to work with the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus at a hospital in Kampala. |
