  2008 Round of Grants Awarded

In its first round of grants in September 2008, COINS Foundation supported projects to build decent homes for nearly 500 orphans across Zambia, Uganda and Mozambique; we provided funds to build a secondary school in Uganda and a new Orthopaedic Surgical centre in Lusaka. The Foundation also made a number of smaller grants to match funds raised by COINS' employees. COINS’ Paul Thompson raised £6,000 to support the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Foundation was pleased to match this sum. The Foundation also granted £11,000 to pay the tuition fees for Sarah Mukasa, who is studying for a degree in Physiotherapy. She plans to return to Kampala to work with the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus at a hospital in Kampala.
