Huge Thanks to everyone who took part in the 2009 COINS 3 Peaks Challenge! For many of us at the COINS Foundation, this was the first time we had attended this extraordinary event. It was amazing to see so many people in the construction industry prepared to go to such lengths for the benefit of people they are unlikely ever to meet.

A lot has been said lately about how the recession is making things tough in the UK and especially in construction – but literally hundreds of people from the industry turned out to demonstrate their understanding and support for people in the Africa and the UK for whom life is always tough.

Although much of the fundraising is yet to happen – the events is already showing great promise with £260,000 pledged to date. Inevitably this is a drop on last year’s total but we are hoping to reach £300k before fundraising ends in September.

The COINS Foundation continues to support projects for disabled young people in the Uk and hopes to add a project for the chronically homeless. In Africa, we have supported work in Zambia, Uganda and Mozambique but if we reach the £300k target we are hopeful to add projects in Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.
